It is exciting to work with church planters and their teams! They have an amazing focus on their mission, and sold out to impact their community with Christ's love and make disciples. The strength of their ministry depends on their staying on mission. That's true for you and your church too! How about you? Are you on mission? Are you on mission with your church?
How do I know if I'm on Mission?
The Bible is a great compass for us! It guides us to...
- continue the work that Jesus began John 17:18
- actively search for lost people Luke 15:1-7
- love God and love our neighbor Matthew 22:37-38
- bring glory to God through good works Matthew 5:16
- serve God by serving people in need Matthew 25:31-40
- be witnesses for Christ Acts 1:8
- make disciples Matthew 28:18-20
If I’m not on mission, how can I get started? Take a look at the map and ask for directions.
You are Here:
Start with where God has placed you, your family, your neighborhood, work, school, community contacts. God has given you unique gifts and a unique network of relationships as a starting point for your mission. The compass of the Scriptures will guide you, and the Holy Spirit will empower you to love and serve the people God has put within your relational network.
Which way from here?
How to fulfill your mission is as unique as you are! There are many examples of individuals and church plants and existing churches who are uniquely fulfilling their missions. Find out how people at your church and in your community are connecting with people, serving people in your community, through work or school, and community organizations. Seek out and test drive existing service opportunities in your community.
I’m not sure I’m ready for this!
Being on mission for Christ is life’s greatest adventure! Don’t let fear of failure or lack of readiness stop you from fulfilling God’s mission for your life in your world.
